God Knows Who We Are and What We Need

This past week has been filled with storms, tears, sighs, burdens, troubles, and pain for so many of us. Some are more evident. Others are invisible to the human eye. But God knows who we are and what we need. He sees every tear, whether running down our cheeks or feeling like a dam inside about to break. He sees what we are suffering, and He hurts when we hurt.

Dearest God,
You know who we are and where we are.
You care so much for us
that You suffered and died for us.
You long for us to fall into Your loving arms.
Please grant us
grace and strength for each day,
peace in knowing You are for us,
and light for the next step forward
when the way may seem so unclear.
For Jesus’ Sake,
AMEN.

  1. Feeling hopeful and refreshed after visiting here, Trudy! The video is lovely. Recently I read an introduction to a Ted talk that is about research being done on how nature images are medicine and vitamins for our mental health. I believe that nature’s beauty is part of God giving us exactly what we need to navigate our time here.

Oh, how true “that nature’s beauty is part of God giving us exactly what we need to navigate our time here.” I love how you word that. 🙂 Nature has often been medicine and vitamins for my mental health, also for spiritual health.   3. Hi Trudy! I hope you had a good week, and were not challenged too much by sorrow.
    You’re so right about the fact that we just never know what people are going through. How sensitive of you to recognize that, and to pray that all would know that the Lord is our strength.
    He does see every tear, and cries with us when we cry. May he not only give us double what we need, but give us the eyes to see that with him, all things are possible.

    • Thank you, Ceil, for your loving concern. I seem to be having some anxiety this past week. But then, I was sick again, so then my brain doesn’t always allow me to process things. I think some of the anxiety is over our country though. I keep trying to remember that no matter what, God is still in control.
      Oh, how much we need “eyes to see that with Him, all things are possible.” Thank you for this encouraging reminder. I love your positive spirit in spite of troubles I know you bear. I hope your neck is improving. May we cling to the love and compassion of Jesus! Hugs!

    • I’m so delighted your heart is touched, Bettie. Yes, He longs to give us what we need. But sometimes what we think we need is not what He knows we need, is it? You have been heavy on my heart and in my prayers, especially with your additional concerns. I long and pray that the biopsy tomorrow will not be cancerous. PLEASE GOD! Thank you for praying for me as well. May we reach for and hold His hand in whatever way He chooses to lead us! Hugs!

    • I’m glad you were encouraged, Lesley. It truly is a comfort to know God sees and knows everything we face and knows exactly what we need. It reminds me of how desolate and alone Hagar felt, but God graciously showed her He sees. She was not alone! May we lean on God’s faithful presence in our lives even when we cannot feel it! Hugs!

  6. Love this reminder that there is grace and strength for each day. I know I sometimes try to live on yesterday’s surplus – or even worse try to work off of a depleted supply. So glad that God gives enough for each day – He is more than enough!

  8. So many people are hurting, even Christians. I am burdened this week with the privileged responsibility to pray for one who seems to have forgotten the evil of sin, and the holiness of marriage, and for one to seek humbleness and grace in what we are called to do, forgive because we have been forgiven.

    Lord, I ask of You for me, insight, wisdom, and the ability with my words to speak truth in love and that Your Truth will surface and bring healing. Keep me humble and faithful to pray, lavishing Your grace on us. AMEN.

    • Thank you so much for this prayer, Coleene. It touches a deep need in my own heart. I know by experience it is so painful to see someone we care about stray from the holiness of marriage. We need so much wisdom to speak the Truth in love. And we feel so helpless when they say they respect how we feel but they don’t seem at all remorseful and keep on in that way. May Jesus give us a deep love for Him and His glory and a forgiving and persevering love with all people! Hugs!

  18. Beautiful post, Trudy. I love that Irish prayer. I take great comfort in the truth that God knows who I am and what I need. AND, He faithfully provides it for us. It’s a scary-beautiful thing to be known that intimately by an amazing, holy God. Thank you for this.

    • Thank you, Mary. Yes, we need peace so much, don’t we? A verse just came to me – “Be still, and know that I am God.” It’s hard sometimes to surrender our way to His, but the peaceful place to be is to be cradled in His will. To trust He has everything under control. May we lean into Him and rest quietly in His plan for us, a plan always out for our good! Hugs!
