February Hope Whispers

God Promises Us

“I have loved you with an everlasting love;
I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
Jeremiah 31:3

“So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10

Hope Quotes

“What I needed was hope. Optimism is seeing how circumstances will get better, but hope is seeing God’s love and care in the midst of bad circumstances. Hope is the refuge in uncertainty when optimism runs dry.” ~ Bonnie Gray

“Our hope comes in Jesus, even when He doesn’t do what we want Him to do. Even when He doesn’t fix what’s broken in our life… When Jesus is with us, He’s our anchor in the rough waters of a troubled life. If we want to survive the storm we need to cling to Him like the salvation He is.” ~ Laura Story

“God has graciously, lovingly and compassionately taken each piece of the jigsaw that was pulled out and scattered. He has then placed the pieces so perfectly back to where they came from. The difference about the pieces this time is that they are much stronger, and much more refined.” ~ Francesca Price

“…I’m an empty page
I’m an open book
Write your story on my heart
Come on and make your mark
Author of my hope
Maker of the stars
Let me be your work of art
Won’t you write your story on my heart…”

Nature Is a Retreat of Hope

“There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks.
Most of the time we are simply not patient enough,

quiet enough, to pay attention to the story.”
~ Linda Hogan ~

    • Thank you, Francesca. And thank you also for that post with the aforementioned quote. It truly inspired me with hope. I just had to share it. 🙂 May God give us grace to trust His love, grace, and compassion in the brokenness of life!

  1. Trudy, this is such a powerful quote: “Hope is the refuge in uncertainty when optimism runs dry.” I’m an optimist by nature but it’s true … there are times when it runs out and we simply have to trust in God’s goodness. Isaiah 41:10 is one of my favorite verses, and of course, your brother’s photos always take my breath away. I hope your week is off to a good start, my friend. 🙂

    • I’m grateful you found hope here, Lois. Yes, that quote is powerful. Isaiah 41:10 gives such comfort, doesn’t it? And I totally agree with you about my brother’s photos. 🙂 I appreciate them so much, even more so in these dark, cold winter days. May God give us grace to trust in His goodness that will never, ever fail us! (I still see in my mind’s eye that photo you shared of someone’s creation with the snow with big letters spelling GOODNESS!)

Your past poems and paintings blessed me so often. I will never forget you. 🙂 May we cling to our anchor of HOPE in JESUS!

  2. Thank you Trudy for such a beautiful gathering here again. Hope — seeing those Sandhill cranes in Arizona brought bright hope to me, while I remembered the little family that nested close to us here this past spring and summer. Maybe “our” neighborhood Sandhill crane family is gathered there, growing strong for the next season of their lives. And God is here writing His story for our next season too. Blessings to you dear friend. xoxo

    • I’m so glad the Sandhill cranes bring bright hope to you in this dark valley you’re going through, Bettie. That must have been awesome to see a family of them near you. My brother and his wife drove two hours to where they congregated before they migrate north. I think he said there were 15,000 of them in that area. They were where the majority of them were and it was quite impressive. When my husband was trucking, he saw thousands of them in Nebraska. I read up on it, and often over 600,000 of them stop over in Nebraska to fuel up before they head further north. Hopefully, they’ll come back your way soon! May the Author of Hope write His story on our hearts! Blessings to you, too, my friend!

  3. Dear Trudy, a wave of calm always washes over me when I read your encouraging posts, and today was no exception. The quote from Psalm 27 is a favourite of mine and to see it framed by the glorious ocean or beach sunrise/sunset image—which I happen to have as my laptop screen saver—was a bonus! I love the hope quotes and your brother’s stunning photographs hold me spellbound. Oh those darling little Eastern Bluebirds are so vividly coloured and cute that you can’t help but smile at the sight of them! Thank you for this oasis of peace, this haven of hope on the internet which brings joy, inspiration and encouragement to all who visit. God has graced you with a place where we feel welcomed, helped, and understood. That’s a beautiful gift. Bless you, sweet friend. Love and hugs to you! xo ❤️

    • You have blessed me with your kind and encouraging words, Joy. Thank you. It is my heart’s desire to point to Jesus and that His grace would make this place a haven of hope for hurting hearts. I’m so grateful this gives you a wave of calm washing over you. Isn’t that ocean scene peaceful? I felt it was the right pic for that verse. Bless you, too, my friend! And love and hugs to you, too! May God fill us with His grace and strength for whatever we are going through!

  4. Awww, friend. This post was a refreshing burst of hope for me. We had a very difficult weekend that led into the beginning of a painful week. Though things have stabilized, your quotes and Bible verses here spoke to my heart.

    I loved seeing Jeremiah 31:3 here. This verse comes to mind often.

    And your brother’s photos? Absolutely stunning!

  5. For sure, without His lovingkindness we would have been done long ago, Trudy. He keeps sending those mercies every morning, we look for them and they are there because He never leaves us.

    What a wonderful Savior.

  6. This is another wonderful collection, Trudy! I always look forward to seeing John’s photos and I love the hope quotes. It’s so important to remember that our hope needs to be in God and not in our circumstances. I love that song too, so it’s good to be reminded of it!

    • Thank you, Lesley. I’m glad you found hope here. It’s easy to look at our circumstances instead of focusing on our faithful God, isn’t it? May He give us grace moment by moment to keep our hearts fixed on Him and His unfailing, everlasting love!
