As you visit this blog, may you be blessed beyond measure. May Jesus pick up your wounded soul and hug you so close to His heart that you will hear the rhythm of His faithful love for you! May Jesus break the chains that keep you from flying in the freedom of His love! May He give you faith to use the wings He has given you!
Sometimes it is through the most painful times in life that we learn the most about Jesus’ love. Out of a despairing point in my life – Depression and New Beginnings – “Freed to Fly: Hope, Healing, and Freedom for Hurting Souls” originated.
Shackles of insecurity, legalism, abuse, shame, fear, and bitterness sometimes feed off each other like parasites and bog us down in despair with no strength or confidence to move forward. But Jesus never grows weary of lifting our bruised and bleeding souls with the assurance, “My child, I care, I understand you, I have been there.”
Through His powerful love and grace, Jesus breaks the chains. When insecurity tells us we can’t, we can do all things through Christ Jesus. When legalism swings its swords, in Jesus we are free. When memory triggers plunge us back into past abuse, in Jesus we can heal and be whole. When shame poisons our perspective, in Jesus we are beautiful and valuable. When fear freezes our faith, in Jesus we grasp courage. When bitterness sours joy, in Jesus we can forgive and move on. When depression sinks us into despair, in Jesus we can dance a victory. When losses, in many different forms, zap our physical and emotional strength, in Jesus we can trust that God has a plan.
Is our faith always strong? No. Do we always feel freed to fly? No. Are we always happy? No. Jesus has said that “In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33) Yes! Jesus has gained the victory for us. Only in Him, we can face whatever lies before us. Only in Him, we can survive and thrive. Only in Him, we can learn to dance in victory.
And one day, if we are grounded in Christ Jesus, our groans will change to glory. “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” (Romans 8:18) So fly, my friend, fly! Fly to Jesus. Fly in Jesus. Fly for Jesus.
I look forward to exploring more of your blog. So glad I found you–or rather that God intersected our paths.

I want to thank SecretAngel for posting your link on her site, “http://secretangelps911.wordpress.com/” and the Holy Spirit for His precious way of leading and directing. I am constantly on the lookout for sites that are geared toward hurting and healing as sometimes there are a lot of sites like mine with inspiration and encouragement but no direction for those going through real turmoil and storms in their lives. I love to be able to direct others to sites like yours and I am impressed with what I see so very much! God bless you so much for following the direction of the Holy Spirit! It is so evident that THIS is the type of example of the Holy Spirit’s REAL (as opposed to imaginary) gifting to the Body of Christ as a whole. Without one another, there could NEVER be a true Church!
I will be following you and posting your link on my WP Links Page as well as letting my Facebook friends and followers about your site!! God bless you oh so richly as you continue to minister (serve) the Lord AND all those the Holy Spirit leads to your wonderful site!!

Your post brings tears to my eyes. Thank you so much. I needed this encouragement as I do sometimes get discouraged. God has pressed it on my heart to bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim freedom for captives, and speak up for those who have no voice.

I just want to say “AMEN” to Pastor Roland Ledoux. I am one of those people with a “hurt” in my life. I was in a bad relationship for nine years. And I am still hurting. The relationship ending three years ago. I am better and stronger today. Thanks to God and Christian friends. And blogs like this. God Bless You! Elizabeth

You’re so welcome, Beckie. Martha Orlando talked about your new book at her blog, so I followed the link, and I’m grateful I was led to yours. 🙂 I already checked to see if your book is in our library, but it isn’t. 😦 Yes, the real source of healing and peace is Jesus. My heart’s desire is to point all hurting souls to hope in Him. He is helping me to be more authentic about past pain in my life and to pass on the comfort He has given me to others. I look forward to reading more of your posts. Blessings to you, too!
