I’m Homesick for You, Jesus
I’m homesick for You, Jesus
I thirst for You in this wilderness
My whole being longs to be with You
I’m homesick for green pastures and flowing rivers
Where there is rest and harmony
I’m homesick for a land of peace
No more hate and abuse and injustice
Where we all love each other
Like You do, Jesus
My heart is weary, Lord
You alone can revive my fainting spirit
You alone can give me strength
To let go of all these burdens and cares
To drop them into Your hands
With all my heart and soul
To give the reins of my heart and life
To You Who alone can change
People and situations in this world
To change hearts to seek You first
And to give You glory
I know I worry too much, Jesus
It’s like it’s ingrained deeply in my heart
A part of my make-up
A result of so much heartache
Thank You, Jesus,
For never being overwhelmed
By the burdens I unload on You
For never condemning me
When I feel worried or afraid
Thank You, Jesus,
For gently taking me by the hand
For reassuring me Your love
Is faithful no matter what
For patiently leading me step by step
To let go and let Your will be done
To give into Your Almighty Hands
My loved ones and all hurting souls
Because You have a plan
Of love and redemption
No matter how chaotic this world is
I’m homesick for You, Jesus
I thirst for You in this wilderness
My whole being longs to be with You
Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly
“Master, the tempest is raging
Oh, the billows are tossing high
The sky is o’ershadowed with blackness
Oh, no shelter or help is nigh
Carest thou not that we perish?
How canst we lie, how canst thou lie asleep
Asleep when each moment so madly is threatning
A grave, a grave, a grave in the angry deep?
Get up, Jesus, because
The winds and the waves shall obey thy will
All you got to say is
Peace, be still
Peace, be still
Peace, be still
Peace, be still…”
The Red Sea Place
by Annie Johnson Flint
“Have you come to the Red Sea place in your life,
Where, in spite of all you can do,
There is no way out, there is no way back,
There is no other way but through?
Then wait on the Lord with a trust serene
Till the night of your fear is gone;
He will send the wind, He will heap the floods,
When He says to your soul, ‘Go on.’
And His hand will lead you through–clear through–
Ere the watery walls roll down,
No foe can reach you, no wave can touch,
No mightiest sea can drown;
The tossing billows may rear their crests,
Their foam at your feet may break,
But over their bed you shall walk dry shod
In the path that your Lord will make.
In the morning watch, ‘neath the lifted cloud,
You shall see but the Lord alone,
When He leads you on from the place of the sea
To a land that you have not known;
And your fears shall pass as your foes have passed,
You shall be no more afraid;
You shall sing His praise in a better place,
A place that His hand has made.“
GOD WILL LEAD THE WAY
“Was it not You who dried up the sea,
The waters of the great deep;
Who made the depths of the sea a pathway
For the redeemed to cross over?”
Isaiah 51:10
Nature Retreat
“All created things are living in the Hand of God.
The senses see only the action of the creatures;
but faith sees in everything the action of God.”

These past two years, this is one of the most frequently read posts. Thank you for stopping by even though I’m more sporadic here. Even when I’m absent I pray God sends you a message to comfort you!
Jesus Longs For Us to Find Refuge Under His Wings of Love

“Like a bird protecting its young,
God will cover you with His feathers,
will protect you under His great wings;
His faithfulness will form a shield around you,
a rock-solid wall to protect you.”
Psalm 91:4 VOICE
Lord, thank You for loving us so much and longing for us to take shelter in You. Please help us to trust You with all our hearts. Take away all the roadblocks that keep us from fleeing to find refuge in You. Take away all the trust issues we may have in our hearts. Take away all our self-sufficiency. Please help us to snuggle underneath Your wings of loving care with all our restlessness, anxiety, and fear. Help us to picture Your protective wings around us whenever we step forward into places or situations that make us feel so afraid and untrusting but yet will help us on the road to healing the brokenness within us. Help us to be dependent on You and Your all-sufficient grace in whatever struggles we go through in this life. Thank You that Your wings of love and safety are invincible.

Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, you’ve posted in this blog today inspired and encouraged me in the deepest depth of my soul, Trudy! I so need to feel his comforting wings surrounding me and protecting me and my family as the holidays approach. So many things are happening right now, it is so easy to become overwhelmed. Your words shared today helped me put everything back into focus.
Oh, and did you write the first part of the blog? It is exquisite, my friend! Blessings always!

I’m so grateful you are inspired and encouraged here, Martha. Yes, it truly is so easy to be overwhelmed. And yes, I did write that first poem/prayer out of the deep depths of my soul. Pouring my heart out to God is what helped me to put things into focus. I didn’t know what to write here, but God showed me that I needed to share this prayer here. May God help us to shelter beneath His wings of safety!

Oh Trudy, thank you so much for sharing this precious post. You know I share your love of Annie Johnson Flint, and this poem of hers was so good. But your prayer poem at the beginning touched my heart so very deeply. Yes, I echo your words, I am homesick for Jesus too! 😭 Come Lord Jesus, we need You so much! May the Lord bless you richly for sharing such comfort that He has given to you, for all of us now too. ❤️❤️

Yes, come Lord Jesus, we need you so much! I’m so grateful you were comforted here, Bettie. And thank you for your encouraging prayer. I have often been comforted when you have shared the comfort God has given you, too. May our hearts be comforted knowing someday He will take us home to Himself forever! Come, Lord Jesus, come quickly!

Oh, I’m so glad this was timely for you, Susie! And thank you again for following God’s nudge on your heart to write your book. It’s hard to believe it has already been a year. I have just begun rereading a poem a day and they still touch me deeply. The Bible verses with each one are so fitting, too. Blessings and hugs to you, too! May God shelter us under His wings of love and compassion!

That is amazing, Jennifer. 💕 I had your post saved in my email, and I finally had a chance to read it this morning. I’m so glad I did! Thank you for the hope and encouragement! I love how much God teaches us through His creatures! And thank you for the Thanksgiving blessings! I wish the same for you each day of the year. May our eyes and hearts be wide open to the “little things” God wants to show us in His creation!

Beautiful post today, Trudy! I was taken by the title, Early Will I seek You. I’ve been focusing on praising Him early each day. It sets the tone for the day!

Such a beautiful poem Trudy! We’ll be restless until we are truly home again. Yet, He is here, leading the way, moment by moment. Sporadic or not, your posts are always a place to of rest and reflection. I’m sporadic, too, with my blogs these past couple of years. I guess we are on a parallel path that way. 🙂

Awww, thank you for your kind words, Lynn. I find your posts inspire rest and reflection also. It’s important to give the people around us our time and attention, right? “We’ll be restless until we are truly home again.” Oh, so true! Yes, may we remember it’ll come someday, but meanwhile He is right beside us leading the way!

Under His feathers, under His wings, we experience so much peace, rest, and safety. Quiet, too. Thank you for taking us there, Trudy. Even though you wrote this last month, I’m ministered by your tender words this Advent morning.
May He speak peace to you in this sacred season.

God always has His timing worked out perfectly, doesn’t He? So often when I can’t get to reading someone’s blog post right away, I read it on a day when He knew I needed it the most. 💕 I’m so grateful you were ministered to today, Linda. May we rest under His wings today and always!
