New This Month: Links, Quotes, Books & More

“What is the price of five sparrows—two copper coins?
Yet God does not forget a single one of them.
And the very hairs on your head are all numbered.
So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable
to God than a whole flock of sparrows.”
Luke 12:6-7

“Sparrows” by Jason Gray

“(Lalala) if He can hold the world He can hold this moment
(Lalala) not a field nor flower escapes His notice
Oh even the sparrow
Knows He holds tomorrow”

ABCs of Jesus’ Love

Visit this page anytime and let me know if you’d like to add to the words describing Jesus’ love along with a verse supporting it. Remember, there is also a print-out of the original list.

This month I have added another “P” Word:

❤︎  Pursuing Love ❤︎
“This is real love—not that we loved God,
but that He loved us and sent His Son
as a sacrifice to take away our sins.”
1 John 4:10 NLT

I am not always able to keep up with the abundance of books that promote hope, healing, and freedom, so I haven’t always read every one I post here and on the Books Page. Though many are on my long wish list. 🙂 Many will be from recommendations of online friends. If you ever know of a book that is not listed and that supports this website’s mission, please let me know. 🙂

Love Embraced: A Journey In and Through Suffering by Anna Louise Smit

Love Embraced“Fear, Grief, PTSD and The Embrace of Love Not one of us is immune to suffering. So many of us have experienced loss, rejection, trauma and/or deep hurt. But often we decide to keep working, to keep going and to keep numbing that which we are terribly scared will break us into tiny little pieces. Love Embraced records the author’s own journey through such suffering, in: – caring for her mother dying of cancer – grieving her mother’s death – her diagnosis of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, and – working through repressed childhood memories. But, it also reveals how in starting to face that which she was too frightened to face, she began to embrace and be embraced by a mighty God into: – freedom – hope, – comfort, – peace, – strength and – deep joy.” (Amazon Review)

  1. All so lovely Trudy! And thank you for sharing that Jason Grey video. I hadn’t heard “Sparrows” and interestingly enough my main character in a novel I have started was watching the Sparrows in my last writing. I think I will adopt this song as the theme song for the story. God’s perfect timing.

    1. Thank you, Lynn. That’s amazing how God timed it so perfectly for you to hear about this song. I wish you the very best with your novel! May God help us to remember He will watch over us just as He does the sparrow! Hugs!

  2. Thank you so much for including my book here, Trudy. I look forward to taking a closer look at these links you’ve shared. You’re such an encouragement to me.

    1. You’re welcome, Anna. I’m sure it’s good. It’s on its way to me, and I’m looking forward to reading it. I’m so glad you are encouraged here. You are an encouragement to me as well. May God help us to more and more embrace His love! Hugs!

  3. Good morning.
I found your post today on Moments of Hope.
Love your pictures – especially the outdoor shots.
Hope you have a blessed day~

    1. Welcome, Melanie. I’m glad you enjoyed the photos. Nature teaches us so much about God. You have a blessed day, too! May God guide us and keep us and cause His face to shine upon us! Hugs!

  4. Trudy, Once again thank you for pulling together such a beautiful assortment of encouragement! I love the Sparrows song by Jason Gray, and was just able to forward it on to my daughter-in-law for encouragement also! And, I am going to bookmark the link for “101 Best Christian Affirmations,” as I feel like this is just what I need to fill my mind with before bedtime! Thank you for sharing God’s Gift of Encouragement that He has planted in your heart! Blessings and Hugs to you!

    1. You’re welcome and thank you, Bettie. I’m so glad you found encouragement here and are passing that song onto your daughter-in-law. He has us in His hands! That video of confirmations is so soothing, isn’t it? May God’s Truth sink deeply into our hearts! Hugs!

  5. Wonderfully inspiring post, dear friend! Just looking at that swan calms my spirit, and the insect video was fascinating! I’m glad God made them so small. If they were big creatures, they would be truly terrifying, lol! Have a blessed week!

    1. Thank you, June. I’m so glad you were inspired and calmed in your spirit. I found that insect video fascinating, too. It’s so amazing how complex they are and how the Creator makes each one so unique. I agree if they would be big, they would be terrifying. 🙂 May we see ourselves also as uniquely created by our Creator with a special purpose no one else can fill! Hugs!

    1. I knew you would like the song, Lois, as I know music often speaks to you. 🙂 I just found it, and I love it, too. Yes, isn’t it amazing how God pursues us? There is so much hope in that. May our hearts be filled so full of His love that it will naturally ooze out to others! Hugs!

  6. The photos are stunning. I love every single one. I noticed you referenced a book by Anna Smits. I can imagine that it will be a good read. Thank you for sharing these snippets. I love how you do this each month. The quote about being better together is one that I will be referencing often. Love you!

    1. Thank you, Mary. I love you, too. 🙂 I’m so glad you enjoy these “snippets” each month. I love Holley’s quote, too, about being better together. I am learning so much about that through you dear online friends. May God help us to bear one another’s burdens and hold each other up! Hugs!

  7. Hi Trudy! That book looks awesome. I’ll have to add it to my long list of to read :). I love the thorns and roses quotes. What an awesome change of perspective! Your new this month posts are always so full of good stuff, my friend. Thank you! Blessings to you and yours!

    1. Thank you, Candace. There are so many good books out there that I can’t keep up with them all! I love those rose quotes, too. They look at troubles in a whole new way, don’t they? May we remember thorns have roses and God can turn our ashes into beauty! Hugs!

    1. Thank you, Valerie. I’m glad these round-ups give you enjoyment. 🙂 It takes amazing grace to bloom in the midst of adversity, doesn’t it? I read something this week how the greater a woman’s suffering became, the tighter her grip on Jesus. May the love of Jesus help us to bloom in the midst of whatever troubles we may face! Hugs!

    1. Thank you, Tiffany. I’m glad you enjoy them. 🙂 There are so many meaningful quotes out there. May God help us to see we are beautiful roses in His garden instead of only seeing the thorns in our lives! Hugs!

  8. This is a great selection of resources as usual, Trudy. I love how you always introduce me to new songs, and I love the quotes and photos too.

    1. Thank you, Carly. I’m glad you love these tidbits of hope. This song is new to me, too. There are so many out there I don’t know about, so I love finding those that offer hope in Jesus. May God help us to be more aware of how He holds each of our moments in His loving hands! Hugs!

  9. Trudy,
What a great hope-filled list of resources! I was drawn to the article on Today’s Christian Woman. It is one of my heart messages. Even though we know the Truth of our value, we don’t seem to embrace it. I believe it is why we have so many environments of women being unkind to each other. And on the other hand, it also is the cause of being stuck in life. Accepting less than God’s best for us! The lack of confidence is at the core of so many of us! Thank you so much for sharing all this good with us at Moments of Hope!!

    1. Thank you, Lori. It’s so true that we know the Truth of our value, but we don’t always seem to embrace it. Yes, it certainly does make us stuck in life, doesn’t it? May we learn to embrace the identity we may have in Jesus! Hugs!
