We Are Never Insignificant in God’s Eyes

Do you feel unnoticed and insignificant? Like you’re nothing but a number to some people? Or a mat to wipe their dirty feet on?

In the world we live in, whether in families, society, or at work, it’s easy to feel overlooked and unappreciated, isn’t it?

The earth is but a tiny speck in the solar system, only 1 millionth the size of the sun. Consider that tiny speck holding well over 7 million people (World Population Clock). Can you imagine what size each of us is in comparison to such a vast universe?

In such magnitude, not one of us can be visible to the human eye. And that may be how we feel at times. Invisible and insignificant among so many.

Yet to God, each one of us is not only visible but cared about. He keeps track of every life from the moment of conception to the day of death. Even before that, He knows us! We are precious to Him. He knows every detail of our lives, even down to how many hairs are on each of our heads at this very moment. He knows the depth of our thoughts and feelings. He knows every single hurt in each of our hearts, and He cries with us.

“Since you are so much more precious to God
than a thousand flocks of sparrows,
and since God knows you in every detail
– down to the number of hairs
on your head at this moment –

you can be secure and unafraid of any person,
and you have nothing to fear from God either.”
Luke 12:7 VOICE

No, this life is far from easy. Troubles can become like immovable mountains. People can hurt us and make us feel like we’re insignificant nothings. Negative voices and past pain can wrap us in seemingly unbreakable chains. Satan himself stalks us like a hungry lion seeking to devour us. But God…

But God is still bigger! In times when we can embrace how powerful, tender, and unfailing God’s love is for us, it can fill our hearts with hope.

We may be merely statistics to a census bureau or feel unnoticed and insignificant to others, but our Creator counts each one of us worthy of His consideration, compassion, and unconditional love around the clock day after day, year after year, and into eternity.

He loves each one of us as if you are or I am the only person on earth. I just can’t comprehend such powerful love and grace, can you?

There are so many in this world who feel unloved and insignificant. Are you one of them? I deeply long for every single one of you to feel special and loved. You are not insignificant, no matter what anyone says. You are not unlovable. You are not overlooked. God has the power and the desire to reach into and heal the wounded places of every hurting heart. His arms of unconditional, fathomless love reach out to us, no matter who we are, where we’re from, or where we’ve been.

“And may you have the power to understand,
as all God’s people should,
how wide, how long, how high,
and how deep His love is.
May you experience the love of Christ,
though it is too great to understand fully.
Then you will be made complete with all
the fullness of life and power that comes from God”.
Ephesians 3:18-19 NLT
“How precious are Your thoughts about me, O God.
They cannot be numbered!
I can’t even count them;
they outnumber the grains of sand!
And when I wake up,
You are still with me!”
Psalm 139:17-18 NLT

Your Unfailing Love

  1. Yes, we are never insignificant in His eyes! It can be hard to live that truth out in life. Sometimes it’s just looking up at that big blue sky that can remind me how big and wide His love is for every one of His creations, including you.

    1. Yes, it is definitely hard to live that truth out in life, Lynn. I’m so glad we can help each other remember. God’s creation is such an awesome reminder for both of us, isn’t it? May we learn ever deeper to fix our focus on the truth of His big and wide love for us, His own beloved creations!

    1. I’m so grateful these posts remind you of your many blessings and to look outside of ourselves, Jennifer. It can be so hard to do, can’t it? Especially when troubles overwhelm us. May we learn more and more to find our hope and significance in Jesus!

    1. Yes, truly a miraculous blessing, Martha! Thank you for sharing this beautiful truth you remind yourself with – that you are “the Lord’s child, forgiven and filled with His undeserved grace.” Yes, such undeserved grace that He so freely gives out of such boundless love for us. 1. I’m so glad we can encourage each other, Bettie. You definitely open your heart to share the love God has given you. I am always blessed to read your posts. The road God has chosen for you is so difficult, and it’s amazing how deeply He teaches you of His faithful love through all your pain and disappointments. It truly inspires me. 1. We need the reminder of this truth every moment, don’t we, Lesley? It’s so incomprehensible how God knows and loves each of us individually. He gives each of us His full attention and never abandons us even for a second. Love and hugs to you, too! May we keep holding onto the truth of God’s unfailing, unlimited love!

  6. Hi Trudy … Scripture says it all, doesn’t it. In His Word, God reminds us of who we are, how much we’re loved, how significant we are to His plan.

The more we choose to focus on His truth, the less the world has us in its grasp. And oh, isn’t that what we’re yearning for …

  7. Trudy, this is such a beautiful reminder that we are seen. When we consider just how vast this universe is, it’s easy to feel invisible. But God sees, as you’ve so beautifully shown. I find such comfort in knowing that my Father, who created all things, created me to be loved by and to love Him. Truly amazing. Thank you for these reminders.

As I read your post, I thought about a video I saw by Louie Giglio. This is pretty long, but so worth the watch if you want to see how amazingly creative and HUGE God is and how intimate He is with His children…

    Love and hugs, my friend.

    1. Wow, Jeanne! This video is so inspiring. I only got through snippets of it, but I’m hoping I can watch all of it in the next couple of days. Thank you so much for sharing it! I love what you share, too, about finding comfort in “knowing that my Father, who created all things, created me to be loved by and to love Him.” I so desire to grasp that more deeply in my heart. Yes, truly amazing! May we fully embrace that truth and live it out in our lives! Love and hugs to you, too!

  8. Oh, Trudy, what hope filled, beautifully encouraging thoughts you have shared! I am especially touched by these words: “He knows the depth of our thoughts and feelings. He knows every single hurt in each of our hearts, and He cries with us.” I needed that reminder today. When I feel hurt or lost I tend to curl into myself and forget just how much I am loved by God and others. The enemy loves to push me into feeling unworthy and insignificant.
But God wraps arms of love and compassion around me and the whole world. Not one of us, however we might stray, is ever out of His sight or lost to His love, mercy and grace. I smiled when I read about God counting the hair on our heads. At the rate mine is shedding, He will have less to count each day! 🙂 Blessings, love and hugs to you, dear caring friend! xo ❤

    1. I need that reminder moment by moment, too, Joy. Like you, I so easily forget just how much I am loved by God and others. The enemy works hard to use our vulnerabilities, doesn’t he? “But God…” I love those two words. His love, compassion, mercy, and grace are so amazing. I lose lots of hairs each day, too. 🙂 It’s so baffling that not one hair of each of us escapes His notice, isn’t it? May we moment by moment lean into our God who knows every single hurt in our hearts and cries with us!

    1. I’m so glad your soul is soothed, Chandra Lynn. Lies can pummel us within and without, and it can be hard not to feel insignificant. I pray you may know deep in your heart how much Jesus loves you! May we hang onto the truth that we are important and significant in God’s eyes!

    1. Thank you, Dejanara. I was just looking through a couple of your posts, and your quote still rings in my mind – “The greater the hurt, the greater the harvest.” So true. And I love that you support your daughter in her pregnancy – “Despite her disobedience, and disregards as to how you raised her, this is the time that she needs you the most.” I pray you may be given further strength and wisdom. May we as parents and grandparents always be caring listeners and constant prayers!
