Termites can slowly destroy our homes from the inside out without our even being aware of it. However, once they are exposed to the light, they die. Unexposed past pain works the same way. In order to have freedom in the future, we need to bring it to the surface and deal with it.
Even when we think we aren’t affected by a painful past, we are. Buried pain drives our perceptions and reactions to situations and people. For our own welfare and the good of those around us, we need to expose the past to the light of truth.
